The meeting came to order at 7 pm under Jim Tilbe's gavel. 20 members were present.

Jim began with a summary of news from the Scottsdale Computer Conference.
The declining membership phenomenon is universal across N American compueter clubs.  One successful strategy for countering this is to split the meetings into Special User groups (SIGs).  Within the one meeting time period, the club might meet briefly to discuss generalities and then split for instructional sessions on Android, iPad etc.

Cloud computing is a new trend with MS and Apple.
On these services you do not have a DVD drive to install programs or apps.  When you want to use MS Office, you do so from the Cloud.  The program exists only at MS.com and we will all work through the Net connection.  This program (app) is a paid subscription ($99 per year) and is named Office 365.  There is a free trial of this app available if you dare  CLICK.   Compatible with Win7, Win8 and Mac machines. Lavina points out that Cloud computing has the benefit of auto-sync of accounts and docs over multiple computers.

At the website  WWW.APCUG.NET you will find an active organization of computer clubs. The website features several online tutorials and more features.
Our club's current membership in AZACC is providing some benefits, so Jim suggests that we may want to buy the 2 memberships next year.  Both affiliations provide speaker lists for meetings. Lavina reports that some of these speakers will attend your meeting to present their Webinar via Skype to the club projector meeting.
One common  opinion at the conference was the view that Windows-7 is better than Win-8 and most upgraders regretted the change.

eMAIL settings may  require resetting when you get back home. Or it may not if your email server is the same company in both locations.  If you have an email address with Hotmail/Outlook, with Gmail, Yahoo or AOL, nothing ever needs resetting.

The motion passed at the April 1 provided up to $800 for the President to purchase a new projector and screen for the computer lab.  In the intervening time Jim discovered that a hi-powered projector combo may run up to $1000.
Moved by: Lee Schorer  and seconded by: Marv Larson   that the President be authorized to spend up to $1000.oo for the projector/screen purchase.  Approved.

The lab monitoring schedule ends on Friday April 12 as posted on the lab door.

The meeting adjourned at 8:05 pm
